The Color Purple - Alice Walker
Oh Wow, where to start with this book! The Color Purple is a book that I have been meaning to read for years so when it popped up in our bookclub I immediately ran to my bookshelf and dug it out. I love the way it has been written, it is all in the format of letters, which i think is a very original and brilliant way of setting this book out. Although this book is a very heavy read with the topics being quiet hard hitting in places it dis make me feel uncomfortable but also relieved in a way that these issues were being addressed. It made me feel relieved as the women throughout this book stood their ground even when it got hard for them it certainly showed their strength. This book follows Celie and tells her story over 30 years from when she was 14 years old. This is a book that will stay with me for a very long time. I highly recommend it if you haven't yet read it!
