Last Night -Mhairi Mcfarlane

You know you're in for a good book when the first couple of chapters have you literally spitting out your cuppa and roaring with laughter! Although it had me in fits of giggles, this novel is also one of the most heart breaking I've read in a while! Best friends Eve, Susie, Justin and Ed have been close since they were 18, now in their 30s things haven't changed, Eve is still secretly holding a flame for Ed ever since before he went to university, so when they're all out enjoying a pub quiz and Ed announces his engagement just how will Eve take this news?  The night takes an unexpected turn when an incident happens and changes their lives dramatically, secrets will be unfolded...just how well do you know your best friends?...Is is easy to forgive and forget?....Can love be found in the most difficult circumstances? I absolutely adored this book, one minute I was laughing so hard then the next moment I was sobbing my heart out. A beautiful, heartwarming story of love, lo

Breath taking - Rachel Clarke

Oh, first things first you will definitely need a tissue at hand for this read. Rachel is a palliative care doctor who spent most of her time working on the wards during the first wave of the covid pandemic. From working on the very front line she gives us a raw, emotional, brutally honest and very personal account of not only her time but her colleagues, patients, patients relatives and her families time during one of the most awful times to have happened during many of our lives. The courage shown through this book from all of the healthcare workers is just second to none, the bravery and kindness that they have shown through this whole pandemic is just unbelievable, the sacrifices they have made for the sake of others is just incredibly selfless. This is a book not to be missed. If you haven't yet already read it Rachel's first book was called 'Dear Life' a deeply moving and thought provoking read.

Kid Lawyer - John Grisham

Image
I can't believe I've never read any books by John Grisham, well it's safe to say I love his style of writing so I will most definitely be reading more. Kid Lawyer is aimed for a younger age group but I certainly didn't stop me from reading it. I was hooked. Theo Boone is 13 years old, he's going to follow in his parents footsteps and be a lawyer, he knows his stuff, he really knows his stuff! The kids in his school come to him for various advice, whether it be on animal law, house repossession even teachers comento him for advice on drunk driving  charges!!! Theo follows trials very closely, so when a murder trial begins in his hometown he simply has to watch it and organize uses a school trip to the trial. However the trail is looking like the defendant is going to walk free as their is no real evidence everything is circumstantial....Will Theo find himself in a position to help? Just what evidence is needed? More than one person will be helped along the way! I re

One Chance - Terrol Lewis

Image
So today is my stop on the blog tour for 'One Chance' by Terrol Lewis. What a phenomenal read, i was hooked from page to page as I read about a young Male who grew up around gangs which eventually led him into gang life, a man who also has aspirations of being a footballer but became consumed in earning more money and creating his name on the street, a man who had a heart and cared dearly for his family and friends, who then turned his life completely around and is now to go to guy to help others who finds themselves in similar situations creating a safe place for them. I couldn't put this book down, I read it in two sittings (it would have been one sitting had i not seen I was still reading it at 2.30am!!!) This is a truly honest, raw and completely emotional account of Terrol Lewis and his life becoming a gangster in one of the most famous places in southwest London, Brixton. But his story is not only about becoming one of the streets most recognised names it's also

The Victim - Kimberley Chambers

Oh no we've read the end of the 'Mitchell's and O'hara' series, I'm very sad to see the end of this trilogy. But however I do still have 'Backstabber' to read which brings The Michells and The Butlers together, but I wonder if it will be in a good way or a bad way?! Frankie Mitchell is still banged up in Holloway, she's still keeping her secret close to her chest as to why she attempted to kill Jed, but that all changes when Georgie and Harry attempt to run away to see their mummy, but Jed is clever, far too clever to ever let the kids see Frankie. But with some help from the inside and Eddie's promise that he will never stop looking for Frankie's Children, what price will it come at? Will Frankie get the happy ever after she's always wanted? Will Jed manage to get away forever? Will this be the end of the Feud between Jimmy and Eddie? Lives will be lost, but who's? I absolutely loved this series, there is most definitely room for a

I have throughly enjoyed every single novel I've read from C.J Tudor and every book just gets better and better but my gosh does 'The Burning Girls' just blow it all out of the water, I haven't read a book this gripping in such a long time... Revered Jack Brooks and daughter Flo are moved to a small village in Sussex, she doesn't want to go but in order to keep her job she must, with a fresh start in mind and a new parish things could start to be looking up or can they? How far will Jack get pulled into the mystery that surrounds her new village? Secrets unravel, but at what cost? This is book that HAS to be on everyone's radar this year. Its creep, dark, haunting, spooky and very twisty. This book will slowly draw you in and I guarantee you won't release you're breath until the very end! I really didn't

Where Has Mummy Gone - Cathy Glass

Image
What an emotional read! I really enjoy reading Cathy Glass's fostering memoirs, I love reading about how she manages to insert happiness, love, nurture and above all hope to every single child she fosters... This story follows 8 year old Melody who is taken into care from her drug addict mother...but is there more to this than meets the eye? Melody loves her mother very much and needs to know shes ok while she is in care...who will cook for her mother? Who will remind her mum she needs to go food shopping? Who will remind her she has contact 3 days a week? Has Melody been doing more to help her mum that everyone knows? We will find out  more as Melodys story unravels and with it unravelling you will read one of the most heartbreaking storys ever. I couldn't put this book down, as with many of Cathy's books they hook you right from start to finish.
