Evidence Of The Affair - Taylor Jenkins Reid

Image
I am on such a roll with reading Taylor Jenkins Reids blacklist! So when I saw she had a kindle only short story I knew I had to read it! The story is told through a series of letters. David recieves a letter from a woman he's never met before, Carrie, and discovers his wife has been having an affair with her husband....throughout their communication they form a wonderful friendship that helps each other deal with their own betrayals, a companionship that they can just be themselves and share everything. At only 88 pages long, this short story draws you in from the very beginning, it's powerful, emotional and engaging. Taylor Jenkins Reid is fast becoming a favourite author of mine, I know whatever book I pick up I'm going to be completely engrossed in it and know its going to be completely different to what she has already written.

The House In The Pines - Ana Reyes

What an Cracker of a read, easily a 5* book! For a debut novel this one is definitely up there with the very best. I could have kept reading and reading. Maya's best friend Aubrey died 7 years ago, she knew exactly who did it, but was never believed, until another girl dies and a face from the past comes back to haunt her. Maya's story is told between the present day and 7 years ago, it kept me hooked from the very start, I was that engrossed i managed it in just 1 sitting! DARK. CREEPY. ATMOSPHERIC.  EERIE. CHILLING. TWISTY AND MOST DEFINITELY HYPNOTIC! I read The House I'm The Pines as part if Reeses Bookclub, this was January's pick and what a superb boom to kick start 2023 with. I will most definitely be on the look out for more to come from Ana Reyes and will be the first in line to read what is to come!

Forever, Interrupted - Taylor Jenkins Reid

Oh my goodness, what a read, from the very first few lines I knew this book was going to be impossible to put down. Little did I know that this book was going to turn of to be the best book I have read by Taylor Jenkins Reid so far, without a doubt a 5*  must read! Elsie has just lost her husband, very tragic especially after only being married for 9 days, they should have had their whole lives ahead of them....why did Ben not tell his mother he was dating someone, let alone got married?.....can Elsie ever begin to start to come to terms with her loss?......how do you even begin to move on?.. I absolutely loved this book, each chapter alternated between the present and the 6 months Elsie and Ben were together  I adored this book, if you're a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid then this is a must read!! I read this as part of a buddy read with @youaremysunshine83 check out what she thought of the book!

Carrie Soto Is Back - Taylor Jenkins Reid

Now this is a book that grabbed my attention right from the start!! I whole heartedly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys tennis and to anyone who just loves a bloody good book! This is the second book I have read by Taylor Jenkins Reid and it definitely will not be the last, Taylor writing is so unique and unlike any author I have come across before, each and every book is completely different and I LOVE that!! Carrie is a very strong willed character she knows exactly what she wants and how to get it, but throughout the course of the book will learn very quickly different life lessons, it's OK to fail everyone once in a while. A truly magnificent read of betrayal, ambition, loyalty, friendship, Lovers and father/daughter bonds. I read this as part of a buddy read with @Leann_reads and @youaremysunshine83.

The Lace Weaver - Lauren Chater

Wow, where to start, what I read, I was pulled in from start to finish, there is always something about historical fiction that oulls me in and this gorgeous book did just that. Moving, emotional, beautiful and extremely engrossing. It has been so long that I have become so invested in a book, I cared about the characters. The story was extremely well researched and taught me so much. I for one cannot wait to see what Lauren writes next, I for one will be first in line to pick up. Thank you very much to @allisonandbusby for letting me take part in this wonderful blog tour.

Intruiging. Dark. Twisty. Emotional all the ingredients you need to make a rollercoaster of a book. Thank you @allisonandbusby for letting me take part in this amazing blog tour. Make sure this is on your tbr this year, you won't regret it!

The Bullet That Missed - Richard Osman

I absolutely adore this series, The Thursday Murder Club, a group of retirees come together and crack cold cases. The Bullet That Missed, is the third instalment of The Thursdsy Murder Club and things are about to get a whole lot harder for the gang....Elizabeth's past is about to sneak upon on her but can she sort it or will she lose those dearest to her? The case that the gang are investing is about to open up a whole can of worms. They're investigating the disappearance of Bathany Waites a journalist whose car has been found driven off a cliff however nobody has been found... An extremely enjoyable read, I love Richards style of writing and am very much looking forward to book 4...this series is definitely like a good catch up with friends! I read this as part of a readlong with Dalis Book Club on Instagram, take a look at the accounts on the picture below and have a look at their reviews.

Oh my goodness, what a read! This book has definitely lived up too the hype around it! I couldn't and didn't want to put it down! A dark and twisted read of six college friends who attend a reunion but everyone has their own agenda...mainly an unsloved murder. This is one story you won't want to miss out on, with a dual timeline running throughout you are really going to get to know the story from start to finish from then until now! Let's find out just who would do what to keep their secrets hidden! I read this as a buddy read with @vampchicandherbooks as we both have had this one on our TBR piles for a long time!!

Matthew Perry - Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing

Image
Oh my goodness, this is probably the most brutally honest, raw and brave memoir I have ever read. What a book to kick off my new year with, an absolute 5* read. As many of millions of people I absolutely loved Friends growing up, so when my chance to read Matthew's memoir came about I was eager to read it and boy what a read it was. I was completely hooked to every page, it just goes to show you how much strength you have yourself and how much when push comes to shove you can hide and come out the other side. I'm glad Matthew had so many people he could turn to and people who stick throughout to help him each time he relapsed. I never ever knew the ins and outs of what he had battled through his whole life and my goodness was he brave in writing this book, he was complete honest throughout and it was very emotional to read!!  I read this as part of a buddy read with @leann_reads, @coffeekitaab and @kelly.farrell27 thank you ladies for a great buddy read.
