Cruel To Be Kind - Cathy Glass

Image
Six Year Old Max has been voluntary placed into care by his mother Caz, she is currently in hospital after having toes amputated as a result of her Diabetes, Maxs main reason for being placed into care was that he was left on his own whilst Caz was in hospital. Cathy and Caz don’t have the greatest of starts and Caz even phones Cathy and threatens her before Cathy has even had Max put into her care!  Cathy hasn’t had the full update of Max’s background yet and is quiet shocked when he arrives, he is quiet a bit over weight and his family including his social worker are in denial that there is a problem, You can’t  even bring the subject up with Caz. Max knows he has a problem with his weight, he can’t join in simple activities at school such as playing football because of this. It isn’t until he has his check up with the pedatrician that things start to change. Max is a lovely child, he reminds me a lot of Matilda, he loves reading, whilst he was at home he stayed in his bedro...

What a superb laugh out loud romantic comedy! I just didn’t want to put this book down, I devoured the whole book in just two sittings. Josh feels it is the right time to propose to his girlfriend Jade, they have been together a while now, share a flat and even have a pet rabbit Jeremy. Josh couldn’t think of a more romantic propsal, it’s New Years Eve, he’s booked the London eye with the full works and an evening at a night away, the most perfect proposal until he’s turned down.... but where did he go wrong? He did everything right? After a couple of disastrous dates, now living back with his parents and out of a job, Josh finds a 50p coin, you know what they say about finding a penny, maybe now he will have fifty times more luck? And now decides to leave all his decisions down to the fate of a flip of his coin! But just how far will his flip of the coin take him? Would you be prepared to let the flip of a coin control the future of your love life? A hilarious, uplifting love story yo...

This is the second instalment in the delicious Chocolate Lovers series, a hilariously, wonderful, heart warming read. I managed to read this one in just one sitting, One minute I was in fits of giggles and the next moment I was shredding a tear. The four girls that form the chocolate lover club, are Lucy, Autumn, Chantal and Nadia, when they have any news to share they call a chocolate emergency at their favourite place The Chocolate Heaven Cafe. In this book all four girls go on an emotional rollercoaster, they suffer heartbreak, loss, betrayal, they form unseen friendships and even go on a drug run!! A must read for any chocolate lover who just wants a really good pick me up book with a few extra treats! I absolutely adore books by Carole Matthews, I’m looking forward to reading the third instalment to see what the girls are up too next! There are even tasty recipes at the end of each book!

Fifty Fifty - Steve Cavanagh

WOW! I just want to say this is my book of 2020! I was completely engrossed from start to finish, this is extremely well written, cleverly crafted, an absolute page turner you don’t want to miss out on. Eddie is back and could this just be the biggest case yet? Frank Avellino is brutally murdered, one of his daughters has done it! They’re both at the scence, evidence is pointing to both of them, but only one has committed this heinous crime...Could it be Alexandra? Or could it be Sophia? It’s Fifty Fifty...Sophia’s Lawyer Eddie is 100% his client Sophia is innocent as is Alexandra’s lawyer Kate. One of the sisters will go completely out of their way to make sure they’re not convicted, they will go as far as to take out anyone who can prove SHE did it! I was completely gripped by this book, it was as if I was sat in the court room. This series is fast becoming one of my favourite, although this book is part of a series it reads completely well as a stand-alone! If you would like to star...
